Maestri World

For parents: what Maestri World shows you, and what it never does

Maestri World is built so your child can play alone, and so you can see what they are learning whenever you want to. Here is what is behind the gear in the corner, and the promises we make about ads, data and screen time.

The parent area

Six tabs, all about the child playing now

Everything is for the active child. The charts follow one calm color system, and every chart has a table view.

Kids

Add, edit, remove and switch children, and choose which games each one sees: by age, always shown, or hidden.

Overview

Up to three suggestions, the last seven days in five numbers against the week before, the highlights in words, and a 12-week calendar of play.

Games

Time in each game, how your child got there (their own choice or the guide), rounds, clean rounds and an 8-week trend, plus each game's own settings.

Learning

Learning pace by subject, the skill ladder in every game, which flags and letter sounds are solid, and what is remembered a week later.

Speed

How quickly answers come, item by item: knows it, still working on it, guessing, or needs help.

Settings

Flags your child already knows, session length, backup export and import, resets, and offline status.

Suggestions

It tells you when something needs a look

The overview shows up to three suggestions, from simple fixed rules rather than guesswork. For example, when:

  • Reviews are piling up while today's trip hasn't been played.
  • A skill has had slips in three of its last four rounds.
  • The same mix-up has happened three times.
  • A third of answers come before the question has finished.
  • Sessions are long with the break timer turned off.
  • There has been no play for five days.

Several children

One iPad, a town for each child

Each child has their own progress in every game. Only a parent adds, removes or switches children. A child who cannot read knows their profile by an animal and a color, which shows on the play button when there are two or more children.

The town shows games by age, worked out from the birth month, so it grows with your child. A game for older kids is a building site with a crane until then. Per child, you can set each game to by age, show or hide, and a game they have already played stays open.

Screen time

Sessions that end well

You set the length

Choose how long a session lasts. The parent area shows how often the break screen came up and whether your child played on.

A mission, not a cliffhanger

When time is up, the break screen gives a small mission to do at home, so the screen hands over to the real world.

Little and often

Today's trip is a short daily mix with the reviews that are due first. A few minutes is enough to keep things from being forgotten.

Privacy and safety

Calm by design

A learning game for a three-year-old should not be selling anything or collecting anything. These are the rules Maestri World is built on.

  • No ads, anywhere.
  • Progress and charts are stored on the iPad. Nothing leaves the device unless you export a backup.
  • Works offline once installed, so it can go on a plane or a long car trip.
  • The parent area is behind a gate a pre-reader cannot pass.
  • Tip: iPad's Guided Access (Settings, Accessibility) keeps your child inside the app.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

How do I open the parent area?

Press and hold the gear in the corner for two seconds, then answer the written sum (a two-digit one, like 21 + 10) on the number pad. A right answer is remembered for ten minutes.

Could my child get in by accident?

Very unlikely. A quick tap on the gear only shows a "Hold" hint, the sum is written and never spoken, so a child who cannot read it cannot guess their way in, and a wrong answer simply gives a new sum.

Does Maestri World send my child's data anywhere?

No. Progress and the play journal behind the charts are stored on the iPad. Nothing leaves the device unless you export a backup file yourself.

Can I move progress to a new iPad?

Yes. Export a backup for each child from the parent area and import it on the new iPad. The file is named for the child and includes the charts.

Why are there no streaks?

Streaks reward playing every day for its own sake, which is not what you want from a preschooler. The parent area shows what was learned and what is tricky instead.

A whole town of learning, ready when your child is

Spoken from the first tap, no reading needed, no ads, and progress that stays on your iPad.
